PRIVACY POLICY

Welcome to the modern age of consent! Alpha Omega has been evolving our membership communication to utilize the efficiencies of the internet but with that we have some responsibilities to ask each of our members for their permission to send them information via the internet and hence use e-mail. Our old membership roster which we all value very much will now require explicit consent to include each members personal information. In the past this was done without explicit consent but it was implied that if you wanted to be in the roster you sent in that information with your dues. With many members paying their dues online we have additional options to provide expressed consent.

The bottom line is we need your consent. A mailing was sent to each and every member via snail mail to sign and either mail or fax to the frat office. Do it! You can also login online to update your consent and privacy preferences.

SHARING OF INFORMATION WITH THIRD-PARTIES

INDEPENDANT CONTRACTORS: We may employ other companies or individuals to provide certain services to us such as analyzing member lists and data, or provide consulting services. These third parties will have access to only the information needed to perform limited functions and are required to provide your personal information with at least the same level of protection and security as AOTORONTO. Such third parties are prohibited from using your personal information for any other purpose. Any third parties who use our data will be fully bound by this privacy policy. In no event will the data being used by any unrelated third party include your email address.

LINKS TO THIRD PARTY WEBSITES: Our Web site contains certain links to third party sites. AOTORONTO.org is not responsible or liable for the privacy practices or content found on these sites. We recommend that you check the Privacy Policy of each website you visit.

LAW ENFORCEMENT AND PROTECTION OF USERS: To the extent permitted by law, we will disclose personally identifiable information to government authorities or third parties pursuant to a legal request, subpoena or other legal processes. We may also use or disclose you information as permitted by law to perform charge verifications, report or collect debts owed, fight fraud or protect the rights or property of AOTORONTO.org, our members, our website and/or its users.

CHOICE OF LAW: These terms and conditions shall be governed in all respects in accordance with the laws of Canada without regard to the conflict or choice of law rules thereof. The courts sitting in the province of Ontario, Canada shall have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising hereunder.

PARTICIPANTS

We reserve the right to use, without Personally Identifying Information, any questions, comments, photos, or other information submitted by users of AOTORONTO.org, in electronic or print materials, or magazine articles, commentaries, or similar ways. Users may be identified by user name or publicly displayed name. (ie. Facebook, Twitter and by other means)

While AOTORONTO.org makes every attempt to prevent unauthorized persons from accessing our files or tampering with our website, we cannot guarantee that these efforts will always be successful or that your information will not be lost, misused or altered. We are not responsible for any breach of security or any action by a third party that receives the information.

AOTORONTO.org will not share, sell, or distribute email addresses provided to us and participants may remove themselves from our email lists by request.

AOTORONTO may restrict or terminate your access to the Website if it has reason to believe you have provided false, misleading or inaccurate information.

INDEMNIFICATION

IN ADDITION TO ANY OTHER INDEMNIFICATIONS BY YOU SET FORTH ELSEWHERE IN THIS AGREEMENT, YOU AGREE TO INDEMNIFY AND HOLD HARMLESS AOTORONTO, ITS AFFILIATES, SPONSORS AND THEIR RESPECTIVE OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, AGENTS, AND EMPLOYEES FROM AND AGAINST ANY CLAIM, DEMAND, OR CAUSE OF ACTION, INCLUDING ANY FEES (INCLUDING ATTORNEYS FEES) ARISING OUT OF CLAIMS BASED ON ANY ASPECT OF YOUR USE OF THE WEBSITE, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION, (I) CLAIMS BASED ON DEFAMATION OR OTHER CONDUCT BY YOU IN USING THE WEBSITE, OR (II) YOUR VIOLATION OF ANY INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY LAWS INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION THOSE RELATING TO COPYRIGHT, TRADEMARKS OR TRADE SECRETS.

AOTORONTO CANNOT AND DOES NOT MAKE ANY REPRESENTATION OR WARRANTY CONCERNING ERRORS, OMISSIONS, DELAYS OR OTHER DEFECTS IN THE INFORMATION SUPPLIED TO OTHERS, OR THAT ITS FILES ARE FREE OF VIRUSES, WORMS, TROJAN HORSES OR OTHER CODE THAT INCLUDE OR MANIFEST CONTAMINATING OR DESTRUCTIVE CHARACTERISTICS. THE FOREGOING IS IN ADDITION TO ANY OTHER LIMITATIONS AND DISCLAIMERS ELSEWHERE IN THIS AGREEMENT.
